Breaking: AP Poll Week 5 — Seminoles Slip One Spot, Canes Climb
Tallahassee, FL — The latest AP Top 25 college football rankings are in, and Florida State has dropped one spot, falling from #7 to #8, after Oklahoma jumped the Seminoles in the poll following a dominant win over #22 Auburn.
FSU did its part this past weekend, blowing out Kent State 66-10 in Tallahassee. The Seminoles were favored by about 44.5 points and easily covered the spread, but the dominating win wasn’t enough to keep Oklahoma from moving ahead in the rankings.
Meanwhile, in-state rival Miami is on the rise. The Hurricanes climbed two spots, from #4 to #2, after a convincing 26-7 win over the Florida Gators.
What’s Next
Florida State now turns its focus to a road matchup against Virginia. The Seminoles travel to Scott Stadium in Charlottesville with kickoff set for 7:00 PM ET on Friday, September 26, 2025. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
Miami, meanwhile, gets a bye this week before heading to Tallahassee for the highly anticipated rivalry showdown against FSU on October 4th.
